Hugh Jackman To Host Academy Awards
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have confirmed that Australia’s own, Hugh Jackman, will be the host of the 81st Annual Academy Awards, better known to some as The Oscars.
A man of many talents, Hugh is no stranger to the stage, nor to hosting large scale televised events. He won an Emmy in 2005 for hosting the 58th annual Tony Awards in 2004, where he also took a best-actor Tony for his performance in the musical ‘The Boy From Oz’.
“He has style, elegance and a sense of occasion,” producers Laurence Mark and Bill Condon said in a joint statement. “Hugh is the ideal choice to host a celebration of the year’s movies - and to have fun doing it.”
The Oscars will be televised on February 22nd in the USA.
