Nicole Mary Kidman was born on 20 June 1967 in Honolulu, Hawaii, but moved to Sydney, Australia, when she was four years old. (She holds duel citizenship as both an Australian and and American.) She started acting at the age of 15. In the 1980’s, Kidman appeared in several Australian movies and television series, but it wasn’t until the end of the decade that her career really took off. In 1989, she appeared in Dead Calm, and then in 1990 she starred opposite Tom Cruise in Days of Thunder. Kidman first met Cruise on the set of the film, and they were married on Christmas Eve the same year. The couple adopted two children, Isabella and Connor. However, Cruise and Kidman separated just before their 10th wedding anniversary. Kidman went on to meet country singer Keith Urban in January 2005, and they were married in Sydney on 25 June 2006.

Kidman’s critical success began with 1995’s To Die For, for which she won a Golden Globe Award, and she also starred with Cruise in 1999’s Eyes Wide Shut, Stanley Kubrick’s final film. In 2002, Kidman received an Academy Award nomination for her leading tole in 2001’s Moulin Rouge!. During the same year, she also received praise for The Others, and in 2002 Kidman went on to win an Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Virginia Wolff in The Hours. Since then, she has starred in a variety of different films, including Dogville, Cold Mountain, Bewitched and The Stepford Wives. She has also appeared as the face of Chanel No. 5 in a campaign of television and print ads directed by Baz Luhrmann, which have appeared worldwide. Her role in Australia sees her once again working with Baz Luhrmann, and it is bound to be one of her most anticipated performances.



Hugh Michael Jackman was born on 12 October 1968 in Sydney, Australia. He originally studied journalism and was introducted to acting by accident, having taken classes as part of the requirements for a college diploma. During the 1990s, he appeared in a variety of Australian films, television shows, and stage work. Jackman married actress Deborra-Lee Furness in 1996, and they have two adopted children, Oscar and Ava. He first became known outside of Australia when he played the lead tole in Oklahoma! in the West End of London. However, it was his role as Wolverine in 2000’s X-Men that made him a worldwide star. Jackman was actually a last minute addition to the cast, taking over from Dougray Scott who was tied up on the set of MI2. His performance was highly praised and catapulted him to movie stardom. Jackman also reprised the role in 2003’s X2: X-Men United, and 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand, and he is due to star in a stand alone prequel called Wolverine, set to begin production in 2008.

Since his breakthrough role as Wolverine, Jackman’s career has gone from strength to strength. In 2004, Jackman won a Tony Award for his Broadway performance in The Boy From Oz. As a crowd favourite, Jackman has hosted the Tony Awards multiple times; 2003, 2004 and 2005. He has also starred in such films as Van Helsing, Swordfish, Kate and Leopold and, more recently, The Prestige and The Fountain. In 2006, he was cast to replace Russell Crowe in Australia, and Jackman himself has described the opportunity as, “the role of a lifetime”.



David Wenham was born on 21 September 1965 in Sydney, Australia. He has one daughter, Eliza Jane, with his longtime partner, Kate Agnew. Before acting, David used to work in a bingo hall in Sydney and then as an insurance clerk. David went on to star in many Australian television series as well as Australian movies including The Boys, The Bank, and Moulin Rouge! While he also starred in some Hollywood films, such as Van Helsing, Wenham became known worldwide after appearing as Faramir in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. His role in Australia will reunite him with Van Helsing co-star, Hugh Jackman, and propel him futher into the international spotlight.



Bryan Brown was born on 23 June 1947 in Sydney, Australia. He has been married to actress Rachel Ward since 1983. Brown began working in insurance and then started to act in amateur theatre performances before later joining the Queensland Theatre Company. He started appearing in Australian movies from 1977 onwards, achieving international success with films such as Gorillas in the Mist and Cocktail. He has worked in a large number of both Australian and US productions, and his role in Australia should see Brown gain further worldwide attention.



Jack Thompson was born on 31 August 1940 in Sydney, Australia. He was adopted, and his name at birth was John Hadley Payne. Thompson is married to Leona King and they have one son together. He studied at the University of Queensland before moving into acting and starring in a large number of Australian television series and Australian films, including Breaker Morant, The Man From Snowy River and The Sum of Us. He has also starred in international films such as Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones. He was the recipient of a Living Legend Award at the 2005 Inside Film Awards, and Thompson’s role in Australia will gain him further recognition as an Australian cinematic legend.
